IndiGo’s official statement detailed the sequence of events, emphasizing their prompt response to the situation. The airline reported that mandatory security checks commenced immediately after the plane touched down in Nagpur.

During the unexpected layover, IndiGo provided assistance and refreshments to the affected passengers.

A thorough search operation of the aircraft and its contents was launched following the evacuation.

In a separate incident, an IndiGo flight bound for Bengaluru (BLR) experienced a critical engine failure shortly after takeoff from Kolkata’s Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose International Airport on Friday night.

The incident forced the aircraft to execute an emergency landing, highlighting the swift response of both the flight crew and ground personnel.

Flight 6E0573, carrying 173 passengers and crew, became airborne at 10:36 PM. Within minutes, the pilot reported a failure of the left engine to air traffic control. This prompt communication triggered an immediate full emergency declaration at 10:39 PM.


Airport authorities sprang into action, preparing both runways for a potential emergency landing. The Air Traffic Control took charge of the situation, clearing the airspace and prioritizing the distressed aircraft’s approach.

A police official said the bomb threat message was written on a piece of paper, which was found in the bathroom of the aircraft.

However, nothing suspicious was found after a thorough check by security agencies, the official added. An airport official said the flight is expected to resume its journey at 2pm

Despite the engine failure, the skilled pilots managed to navigate the aircraft back to Kolkata Airport. The plane successfully touched down on a single engine at 11:05 PM, demonstrating the crew’s proficiency in handling such critical situations.
